Declaration for the Future of the Internet

The internet is a powerful tool, and it’s essential to protecting the rights of all people. Net Neutrality is key to protecting our freedom online. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has the power to decide whether or not your internet service provider can slow down or block websites and apps or charge extra for faster speeds. But we have the power to speak out and make our voices heard! We’re asking you to sign this declaration to show support for an open internet, which will protect Net Neutrality rules that keep small businesses, artists and activists like us free from pay-to-play fees.

We stand for a free and open internet.

The internet is a platform for innovation, education and communication. It’s a global resource that connects all of us. It’s also a public good, utility and human right.

The internet was born as an open network where anyone could use it without permission or restriction. We continue to believe in this idea of an open Internet; one where individuals can access any content they want without interference from governments or monopolies like ISPs (Internet Service Providers).

We support Net Neutrality.

We stand for Net Neutrality. Declaration for the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, site, platform, application, type of attached equipment or mode of communication.

The Trump administration’s FCC announced plans to end net neutrality protections. ISPs would be able to block websites, throttle services and censor online content–all in order to make more money off you!

The FCC voted to repeal the 2015 Open Internet Order which prevented ISPs from blocking websites, throttling services and giving paid prioritization of internet access–in other words: charging more money for faster speeds and better quality service! If this happens then companies like Verizon could block access entirely if they don’t like what we say on social media platforms like Twitter or Facebook; they could even slow down our Internet speeds until we pay them more money each month just so we can watch videos online again at normal speed (let alone watch 4K content).

We believe in equal access to the internet.

  • Equal opportunity to use the internet is a human right, and essential for economic growth and development, democracy, education and health care.
  • The internet has transformed our lives for the better by providing us with access to information, opportunities for education and communication with people around the world – but this cannot happen if there are barriers preventing some people from accessing it because of where they live or how much money they have.

We stand up for an open and free internet

The internet is a place for all of us. It should be open and free, with no barriers to access, and no unfair discrimination. We need to keep the Internet open so that everyone can participate in its benefits, and make it better through our combined intelligence and effort.

We believe in keeping the Internet as open and accessible as possible. This requires securing the Internet against surveillance by governments or large corporations; promoting transparency about government demands for user data; and protecting user privacy online through encryption technology (where possible).

We stand at a critical moment in the history of the internet.

We stand at a critical moment in the history of the internet. The internet is a tool for expression, innovation and creativity. It’s where we learn, share and collaborate with others across the globe. It allows us to connect with friends and family across borders; it gives everyone a voice; it can be used for good or bad but mostly good!

We believe that an open internet is critical for humanity’s future: it helps us understand each other better; makes our lives more convenient by connecting us with services like Uber or Amazon Prime; allows us to share ideas freely without censorship or restraint (unless you’re using Twitter); lets people from all walks of life communicate directly with those who represent them–whether politicians or celebrities–in government bodies around the world without intermediaries such as news organizations filtering out their messages first before publication online…

It is in peril.

The internet is in peril.

It’s a powerful tool, but it can also be used for harm and destruction. The internet has changed the world, but now it’s at risk of being destroyed by those who would use it for their own gain. We need to fight back against those who want to control how we use this amazing resource: our freedom depends on it!

We believe that everyone deserves access to information–and tools that allow them to express themselves freely online without fear of censorship or retribution from those in power (or just some random troll).

This declaration will protect your right to use the Internet

The Declaration for the Future of the Internet will protect your right to use the internet. It will protect your right to access information on the internet, services on the internet, and communicate with others over it. It will also ensure that you can do so securely and privately.

The Declaration has been drafted by representatives from around the world who are concerned about recent attempts at undermining these principles through surveillance laws such as those passed in Australia or Britain’s Investigatory Powers Act 2016 (IPA).

The internet is a powerful tool that has transformed the way we live. It has given us access to information and allowed us to connect with people all over the world. But now, this vital resource is at risk of being taken away from us by corporations who want control over what we see and do online. We must take action now before it’s too late!
